Crypticon Seattle – Seattle’s Premier Horror Convention

We are back from another successful and amazing adventure at Crypticon Seattle. Our tired bodies, sore throats, and Tim Long branded arms are testament to the time we had. As many of you know, When the Dead Books attended last year’s Crypticon as first time vendors selling both of our books. And the year prior, we came as attendees and passed out flyers promoting When the Dead, which I hadn’t finished yet. 2014 was different for us. In the past year we have made so many new friends via social media from our other projects and returning to vend again we got to see friends made last year at the event as well as meet some people in real life who had only been digital previously. It felt like ten minutes wouldn’t pass before another friendly face would stop by our booth to say hi. Here are some of the memorable things from our weekend in summary form, as the items with stories are too long to tell (and I can’t promise they’ll all make sense). Followed by pictures!

• Watching first day setup and seeing more body parts on carts than in a slasher film
• Finally putting faces to names (Mickie B., Matt D., TJ T., Matt F. and more)
• Debuting our new vertical banner and Michelle’s short story ‘Mirelle’
• Our first sale of the weekend was to a Rocky Horror performer. Man those shorts are gold…and tight.
• Twinning it with the Soska Sisters
• Meeting and getting interviewed by the Scifimonkeys.com Team (Hi Carmen!)
• Actor Eric Roberts calling us “babes” every time he passed by our booth
• Reuniting with our core group of writer friends (Katie Cord, Alaina Ewing, Eloise J. Knapp, Tim Long, Matt Dinniman, Quenton Shaw, Mark Rahner, Eric Martin)
• Hotman Tang and separately, fire massages
• Meeting new writer friends
• Petting birds
• Our awesome booth neighbors (Prehumanity, Mixed Messages, Chainsaw Mouth, Splatterhouse Wreckords, Evil Thread Customs, and Full Moon Features)
• Shaking our groove thangs at Biohazard party on Saturday
• Becky’s self-given Prom Queen status
• Seeing all the faces of readers we met last year (sorry we didn’t have much new on the table!)
• Hugging our favorite Horror Honey and fellow #winnersclub member, Kat Morris.
• Sleeping
• Knowing we helped makeup artist Erik Albidress to win the makeup competition. Congratulations Erik!
• And SO MUCH MORE I can’t list. It was truly an amazing con.
