Pandemically Speaking
It’s difficult to feel too bad for a book beyond its deadline as the entire world takes pause for a virus. Last weekend, we would have been at Crypticon debuting my new collection, but Crypticon is postponed until Mid-September and this weekend, I’m still trudging through the words, trying to form them into something greater. Two stories completed. At least four more to go. Part of me is grateful for the unexpected deadline extension. I obviously needed it. But I’m also still working full time at the bookstore. I don’t get loads of free time like so many of my friends and fellow writers. Granted, I’m happy I’m not feeling the financial stress tied to that freedom. I’m still paying off medical bills from the endometriosis surgeries. I’m grateful, but torn.
This collection won’t write itself.
I hope to see you all in the Fall, where friendship and our shared love of horror will once again remind me why I love this community so much.
In the meantime please stay safe, cover your face, and remember to tell people you love them.
